HISTORY BITES...NOTE PAD (Tenth Edition)
Tranquility descends on Santiago as the 34th World Congress of WACS wraps up. Delegates from eighty eight countries depart for home or for an extended vacation in Chile, one of the most awesome of countries.
The host of the Congress were the Chilean Hospitality and Gastronomy Association and by all accounts they surpassed themselves extending a welcome to be remembered. Of course, the availability and plentiful supply of great wines gave the ultimate benediction to the gatherings.
One of the highlights of the Congress was the finals of the “Global Chefs Challenge”. Throughout the previous year over 600 chefs worldwide had entered their local salons vying for the opportunity to move forward to their National Finals. Eighty Nations participated resulting in seven Continental Finalists.
And the Winner is: Please go to the header ‘Teams’ and scroll down to Global Chefs Challenge to meet the WACS “Global Champion”.
The Events Calendar was a busy one during the Congress. In addition to the Global Chefs Challenge, another competition was underway, namely the Hans Bueschkens Junior Chefs Challenge. The Champion here was Canada with the runners up being Malaysia and New Zealand. To meet the winner Trevor Ritchie, please go to the header “Teams” and scroll down to Junior Teams.
While you are still with us on this site, please make a visit to our new section ‘Expressions of Excellence’. Over time we intend to build this page with additional plates from colleagues worldwide.
